Oranssi Pazuzu

The latest album by Oranssi Pazuzu, a Finnish band who I’d never heard of before, came up after I was listening to Chat Pile on Tidal (spookily good algorithm as far as that goes I think?) and completely blew me away. Sometimes things just find you at the right time.

A friend sent me some (wonderfully varied) recommendations and this was one of them. This track isn’t from their most recent album but keeps weaving its way into my brain :

Another of the aforementioned friend’s recommended listens was Cindy Lee. This is beautiful.

The album is unusually lengthy, in a good way though. Submerged me for a whole morning in its warmth before I got onto the heavy stuff.

Penfriend

Penfriend is Laura, is one of my best friends. Emotional Tourist is her new single from her forthcoming album House of Stories. The video she made for the song (it’s in the playlist) is ace and she shares the story behind the track here on her Substack.

I went to see a friend’s band play in Bristol. They’re called Zalizo / ЗАЛІЗО and they haven’t got anything out just yet but will have soon and my god, they were absolutely amazing. You know that thing where you reallllly like someone and you want to go and see their gig to support them but you’re worried in case you aren’t into it? Well I was floored.
