February :
love makes us weak, love makes us ill
I saw Patrick Duff play in Bristol earlier in the month and it was absolutely stunning. This song hasn’t left my head and I keep forgetting that Guy and Jim (my Thought Forms bandmates and friend / husband respectively) played on it. I reckon that’s definitely a sign of a bloody good tune.
6161 - Bristol based “surge of fiercely drum led and brass heavy alt jazz” led by Matt Stockham Brown and featuring members of Get The Blessing. The debut album is coming out in April and this excellent video is by the one and only Sam Wisternoff.
What a beautiful moment, to be stood in a too-well lit kitchen and suddenly feel like you’re somewhere else in space and time. Felt like I was falling in love, but it was mostly just the memory of a hearing a song I didn’t know I’d ever heard.
Litronix I met through work when he came over to Bristol before going on tour supporting BEAK> last December. Electric Panoramic is the latest single from the forthcoming debut album - which is also absolutely brilliant, I’ve heard it. Available to pre-order here).
The latest single from Laura aka Penfriend, from the forthcoming album “House Of Stories”. I love this track, it brings to my mind Elastica / Breeders / Veruca Salt. Fantastic harmonies and perfect pop with a grungy distorted edge.
The Horrors. One of my favourite live bands in the whole world. I’ve been listening to Primary Colours and Skying a lot this month, this is a new’un. Hoping they tour again this year.
